A home built in consideration of Mother Earth, by Conrad-Davis family and friends!

Shifting Our Perception of Waste

                                         Home

Americans generate over 250 Million Tons of trash each year, with each person contributing 4.5 lbs per day and our buildings accounting for 41% of our total energy consumption.  An Earthship home mitigates both of these problems in one beautiful, comfortable and inspiring structure.

Recently an engineer who was just introduced to Earthships said,

"What the world needs now is one billion of these immediately".

A brief overview of the Earthship's systems.

This Earth Home Project

By now, most of us have become familiar with how far-reaching and unsustainable our carbon footprint can be.

Our homes and work-places consume nearly half of our carbon-footprint pie.

To resist this, the primary structure of the Earthship is built out of used tires, cans, and bottles.  If you hadn't seen the mountains of tires that live in landfills around the country, now you have.  We also encourage you to check out; The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The garbage in our landfills is not going away unless we move it away. Using materials that already exist as hazardous trash, we transform them into practical and beautiful components of our homes design.

An Earthship is built using about 45% used materials. After construction, the home provides nearly everything for it's inhabitants passively.

How does this work?

- It collects rainwater and helps you use it 3-4 times.    - The thermal mass of the home and sun work in tandem to keep the home at a consistent comfortable temperature.

- An eclectic variety of plants grow in the greenhouse.    - The greenhouse helps purify the home's air.    - Solar panels and wind energy provide enough energy to power all household applicances.

Anyone who know us, knows us as a passionate group of people deeply in love with each other and the world around us.  Sporting identical "We Are Together " tattoos, we tend to dedicate our obnoxious amounts of energy towards positivity, happiness, and tolerance.  Our friends and family have exhibited great enthusiam for the project and have committed to helping it become a reality.  This community is continuing to grow! Join us! :)

The Conrad-Davis Community - We Are Together

What's the Goal?  What's the point?

Our thought is that the Earthship can be an example of hyper-sustainable living for our community.  Those who stay in the home might simply be interested in enjoying outdoor activities in Colorado, but they will also receive an education about what sustainable living looks and feels like.  We believe this type of education can be very powerful.  Sustainable living principles remain abstract to many in our culture and this will bring a practical reality to the mix.

Enjoying Colorado's abundance of nature is a big part of our mission.  We believe everyone should experience it's inspiring veiws and play in it's topography.  The earthships location in the mountains will faciliate the ability to play, relax, connect with nature and be revitalized.  When a connection is formed with nature and you can appreciate it's beauty, you will be inspired to protect and care for it. The more our community helps with the development of this project, the more we can focus on building the community and the less we need to focus on paying back loans.

Our community will be active in providing guided retreats focused on Yoga, Meditation, Adventure, Sports, Permaculture, (as well as other gardening practices) Nature and Sustainability. We have a team of people who are passionate about these respective disciplines and bringing them to others.

Fostering Education

A few weeks out of every year will be reserved to offer direct education about sustainability and Earthships. In these weeks, we plan to host students and teachers who can be inspired to live in harmony with our planet.  We will teach them the why and the how about Earthships so the knowledge of sustainable practices can grow within and through them.
